About me

I was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where I completed my medical education, including training in cardiology/cardiac electrophysiology. I had the privilege of moving to the United States in 2002 to work in preclinical research in Atlanta, Georgia. I had an amazing initial experience in this country and decided to stay, repeating my medical training. Years later, I became an American citizen and adopted this country as my home. I had the opportunity to train and work in very reputable institutions in different parts of the country before settling in Portland. I am blessed to be doctor, and I truly love my profession. I believe that we can always get better at what we do, and I am constantly pursuing the next level. That is my mission in life, and my patients deserve it. In my free time, I enjoy the arts, including music, theater, and photography. I also enjoy nature and outdoor activities. I am interested in learning new languages, including Italian and French.

About my practice

I am a cardiac electrophysiologist, which requires a significant number of clinical and instrumental skills. I am focused on my education, constantly looking for updates in my field. I follow current guidelines and evidence-based medicine. I follow simple rules during my interaction with patients: listen, respect their opinion, and share information, and together we will make a plan. Basically, I treat my patients as I would like to be treated. This simple rule has gone a long way in creating excellent rapport with my patients over the years. My specialty includes the implant of pacemakers, defibrillators, and resynchronization therapy devices. It also includes treatment of complex arrhythmias, using complex ablation procedures or use of specific anti-arrhythmic drugs. The amount of information can be overwhelming for most patients, and I will be available to explain and discuss all options until the patient feels ready to proceed. Patient education is a powerful tool and essential for successful outcomes.

How I thrive

As a physician, I have had  the privilege of interacting with different types of personalities and learning about different lifestyles. With that amazing experience, I have witnessed that human beings’ abilities are nearly limitless. It made me want to explore my own limits: How far can I go? How much better can I be? That is the reason I enjoy exploring new areas of knowledge, beyond medicine—languages, arts, history, religion.
