About me
I was raised in Colorado, taking full advantage of the majestic Rocky Mountains whenever possible. After completing high school, I ventured east to Maine for my undergraduate education. I subsequently returned to my hometown and graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Orthopedic surgery always felt like the right fit for me, and when it came time to do my orthopedic surgery residency, I ventured west to Portland — to Oregon Health and Science University. Orthopedic surgery is a very direct and profound way to positively impact lives, and I find joint replacement surgeries to be the most impactful and rewarding. I completed an additional year of subspecialty training in hip and knee replacement surgery at the Tahoe Arthroplasty Fellowship in Nevada and ultimately returned to the Pacific Northwest. I always feel calm being close to the mountains, and Oregon adds the luxury of a beautiful and accessible coastline.
About my practice
My specific surgical interests are in hip and knee replacement surgery including primary and complex primary, and in revision and other complicated situations that can arise from joint replacement. My ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for my patients. Though I am a surgeon, I believe that surgery is not always the best option and should not be the first treatment. I believe that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is critical to overall well-being and having a positive surgical outcome. Your overall health is very important to me, so we work together to make decisions about your treatment path. Being at Kaiser Permanente allows me to focus on the patient as a whole, which encourages a healthier and more satisfying patient–doctor relationship.
How I thrive
I thrive by doing my best to maintain a balanced lifestyle. This is often difficult as a physician; however, living in the wonderful Pacific Northwest makes the balance more achievable. I enjoy running, mountain biking, snowboarding, camping, strength training, and working in my garage shop. My family and I are lucky to be here and to call Oregon our home.

Referrals to affiliated community physicians/providers in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community physicians/providers are not part of the NWPMG (Northwest Permanente Medical Group). They are physicians/providers credentialed by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest and/or who have a contract with the NWPMG.
If your NWPMG physician decides that you require covered services not available internally from an NWPMG physician, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community physician/provider. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community physician/provider.
Referrals to affiliated community dentists in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community dentists are not part of PDA (Permanente Dental Associates). They are dentists credentialed by PDA for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest, and they have a contract with PDA.
If your PDA dentist decides that you require covered services not available internally from a PDA dentist, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community dentist. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community dentist.
