About me
I grew up in Houston, Texas, and moved to Portland in 2016. As a person of Asian Indian background, I was "supposed" to become a doctor, and although I loved the sciences and medicine, the idea of ever making a mistake that would hurt somebody scared me away. I worked as an employment counselor, in sales for automotive equipment and multi-million-dollar lubrication systems, and as a pharmaceutical sales representative. Mentors in that last job showed me that my caring about making a mistake was what would help prevent me from doing so — that it would make me better than somebody who was more book-smart. I took the chance as a non-traditional medical student and succeeded.
About my practice
I'm a nocturnist – that is, a hospital medicine doctor who works at night. I'm in charge of the entire hospital, and I'm the person who will make sure your pain is controlled and you get sleep, and sometimes I will help explain why something is happening. I do my best to treat our patients as if they were members of my family. Usually that means being kind and caring, but I'm not afraid to tell it how it is. Provided there aren't emergencies, I will take the time to explain in simple terms what is going on. If you're sick enough to need to be in the hospital, I think you deserve to know why you're admitted and what our plan for you will be. The best thing about being a KPNW clinician is that we're encouraged to care and advocate for our patients and their needs.
How I thrive
I got married in 2018, and we have two dogs — a Siberian Husky and a Cavalier. I can talk for hours about dogs — the funny things they do and how healing they can be. My husband and I travel to California a lot to see family, but our special place is Hawaii. We both love to cook, and although I have to admit he's much better than I am at most dishes, my ethnic food can be pretty awesome (I make an amazing Yebeg Wot). I love to garden and really enjoy taking cuttings and watching them thrive. I love to read, and if left to my own devices without chores, you'd find me cuddled up with one or both of our dogs and my iPad — usually science fiction or fantasy but sometimes horror or a contemporary romance.

Referrals to affiliated community physicians/providers in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community physicians/providers are not part of the NWPMG (Northwest Permanente Medical Group). They are physicians/providers credentialed by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest and/or who have a contract with the NWPMG.
If your NWPMG physician decides that you require covered services not available internally from an NWPMG physician, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community physician/provider. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community physician/provider.
Referrals to affiliated community dentists in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community dentists are not part of PDA (Permanente Dental Associates). They are dentists credentialed by PDA for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest, and they have a contract with PDA.
If your PDA dentist decides that you require covered services not available internally from a PDA dentist, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community dentist. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community dentist.
