I speak: English
My gender: Male
Where I practice
I was born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. After receiving my MD, I furthered my interest in medicine through additional training in Gynecologic Ultrasound. I have also successfully completed the Kaiser Permanente Medicine and Management Course which was a wonderful opportunity to expand my knowledge of leadership and the crucial role it plays at Kaiser Permanente.
About my practice
My first encounter with medicine occurred while I was volunteering with the Red Cross at Tripler Army Medical Center. Helping people in need gave me a sense of accomplishment that prompted me to pursue a career in health care. Being an obstetrician/gynecologist (Ob/Gyn) physician, I am honored to participate in one of the few fields of medicine in which the patients leave the hospital with a great sense of joy about the addition of a new member to their families. I make an effort to learn all that I can about my patients, especially what they do in their free time. I enjoy working with Hawaii Permanente Medical Group because I am given the opportunity to fully concentrate on my patients without having to divide my attention among the different business aspects of being a part of a health care organization. My inspiration resonates with a quote by Francis W. Peabody, MD: “The secret of the care of the patient is in caring for the patient.” Along with being a part of Kaiser Permanente, I am also a member of: The American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and am an associate clinical professor for the UC San Francisco Medical School.
How I thrive
In my free time I exercise as much as possible to keep active and fit. I find peace in swimming daily to calm my mind and stretch my muscles. I also surf when I have the time and the waves are just right. When not in the water, I enjoy running two to three times a week. With all of the exercising I do, I work up an appetite that is filled with my love for cooking, most especially baking.
