Your health plan may come with some perks that go well beyond traditional coverage for when you’re sick. Discover 13 unexpected things you might have missed in your plan documents to support your health and well-being.
Perk 1: Reduced rates on gyms and classes to up your fitness
You may be eligible for One Pass Affinity fitness offers like reduced rates at gyms, studios, and in-person and online classes nationwide.1 Strength training, swimming, yoga classes, and more — find the activity you love doing with this easy-to-use perk.
Perk 2: Rewards for healthy habits
When you’re a Kaiser Permanente member, healthy choices can pay off — literally. You may be eligible to earn rewards for completing healthy activities. Exercise, self-care, and healthy eating are just some of the activities that can earn you up to $150 to shop with many of your favorite retailers.2
Perk 3: Chiropractic care to help you realign and recharge
If you have back pain or issues with your bones, muscles, or joints, consider One Pass’ affinity musculoskeletal program fitness offers. You can get 20% off care from participating practitioners. Be sure to show your Kaiser Permanente ID card at your appointment to get the preferred rates.
Perk 4: Massage therapy to help you bounce back from injuries
Recovering from an injury — even a minor one — takes time and patience. For some people, massage therapy can help. You may be eligible for 20% off services like massage therapy and acupuncture through your fitness offers from One Pass’ affinity musculoskeletal program. Just show your Kaiser Permanente ID card to any participating practitioner to get the discount.
Perk 5: Meditation and sleep apps to make relaxation a breeze
Sometimes it’s hard to shut off all the noise in your life — but self-care apps can help.3 Many Kaiser Permanente plans include no-cost access to Calm, the number one app for sleep and meditation.4 You can also check out Headspace, which includes sleepcasts and live, text-based emotional support coaching available 24/7.
Perk 6: Coaching, classes, and online resources for mental wellness
When you’re struggling emotionally, you can access a range of mental health and wellness care beyond therapy and medication. Services can include one-on-one coaching, self-care apps, online self-help resources, and virtual and in-person classes.5 You can also connect with your personal doctor for support on your mental wellness journey.
Perk 7: Routine eye and hearing care to keep your senses sharp
Your plan may cover additional preventive services to help you embrace your overall health. That could include eye care — like exams, glasses, and contact lenses — as well as hearing aid services and products.
Perk 8: A total health assessment to help identify your wellness goals
Our Total Health Assessment is a quick online questionnaire for members 18 and older to help identify health needs for everything from weight management to quitting tobacco. Once you know your goals, you can find classes and other resources to help you with exercise, sleep, and more.6
Perk 9: After-hours care for the little and big things
It’s hard enough to fit everything on your to-do list between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Many Kaiser Permanente facilities offer after-hours care options, including imaging and bloodwork. Check available appointments on the app or call for services like vaccinations and other routine care. If you need help sooner, you can get care from a clinician by phone or video without an appointment.7 (Costs vary). Or you can call the 24/7 advice line to speak with a clinician.
Perk 10: Care that travels with you
When you travel, you’re covered for urgent and emergency care, as well as prescription drugs, when and where you need them.8 Before you leave on your trip, download our mobile app so you can connect with a Kaiser Permanente clinician when you’re away from home. Also, call our travel line at 951-268-3900 (TTY 711) to learn more about your travel care options.9 If you’re leaving the country, you may need to cover costs upfront. Be sure to save your receipts for any care you receive.
Perk 11: Screenings and vaccines that are hassle-free
To see whether you and your family are up to date on your preventive care screenings and vaccines, just sign in to your kp.org account online or in our app. You’ll also see lab results, preventive care reminders, and other important information about your care. And you can securely message your care team anytime if you have any nonurgent health concerns.
Perk 12: Teen accounts with access to digital self-care apps
Teenage years can be filled with anxiety. To help them manage their stress and build mindfulness habits, teens 13 and older can access the self-care apps Headspace and Calm. All they need to do is create their own account on kp.org to get started.
Perk 13: Access to an interpreter at no extra cost
If you or a family member prefers to communicate in a language other than English, you can request an interpreter. As a Kaiser Permanente member, you can access interpreter services in more than 150 languages, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at no extra cost.
