Where I practice
Hi, and welcome to my Web page. I have been with Kaiser Permanente here in San Diego since 1993.
I grew up in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, and moved to the West Coast starting with my sophomore year in college at UC San Diego. I have wanted to be a doctor since I was very young. I did my medical school and residency training at UCLA. I have a family with children. I love San Diego and enjoy surfing, swimming, and cycling, and have been coaching my sons' baseball teams and some other teams for years now.
About my practice
My practice is mostly focused on the care of knees and shoulders, and I do a great deal of arthroscopic surgery. I have helped train sports medicine fellows here at Kaiser Permanente since I finished my own fellowship in sports medicine and knee and shoulder surgery in 1994. Our team members pride themselves on being on the forefront of advances in our field, and we have weekly meetings to discuss the latest techniques and management strategies.
How I thrive
I try to maintain a lean body mass and exercise regularly. Stretching and yoga are great ways to relieve stress and maintain flexibility. Sometimes to thrive you have to just take a deep breath, let it out slowly, and try to feel the calming effect on your body and mind. Each day I try to find as many things to smile about as I can. Attitude is such an important part of achieving happiness.
