Kaiser Permanente physician
My gender: Male
Accepting new patients. Referral may be required.
My name is Stephen Capon. I have been with the Southern California Permanente Medical Group for 20 years. My office is located at the San Diego Medical Center.
My medical training was done primarily on the East Coast, and I am trained and board certified in internal medicine and hematology. I am originally from Long Island, New York, but spent 10 years in Maryland before moving to the West Coast. I was in private practice in La Jolla for several years before joining Kaiser Permanente. There wasn't a time in my life that I didn't know that I was headed for a career in medicine. I can't imagine a more rewarding calling.
I am a hospital-based internal medicine physician, devoted to the care of those members who require hospitalization for severe illness. I am also involved in administration, with the title of assistant medical director. My primary role is to oversee the function of physicians and hospital staff to help to ensure the highest degree of quality, service and efficiency at our medical center.
Trying to maintain a balance between work and life is a challenge for all busy physicians, and I am no exception. I have many hobbies that keep me interested, including golf, canoeing, visiting art museums, collecting fine art, and reading. Spending time with my wife and children, however, is my biggest priority outside of the hospital.
