Welcome to my Web page! I am very excited to have the opportunity to share with you some information about my endocrinology practice at the Kaiser Permanente Carmel Valley and Bonita Medical Offices.
I grew up in Hong Kong and come from a family of physicians. I wanted to become a physician from the time I was young. My high school and university years were spent in the United Kingdom. Following a research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, where I studied the genetics of thyroid cancer, I came to UC San Diego for my endocrinology fellowship. After the completion of my training, I decided to stay in San Diego, where my family and I enjoy the beautiful environment and diverse community life. I continue to be active as a teaching faculty member at UC San Diego, educating medical students, physicians, patients, and the public. I serve as a board member of the American Diabetes Association Community Leadership Board and the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies.
About my practice
Our physicians and nurse practitioners are dedicated professionals specially trained to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art care in a compassionate and caring environment. Our extensive clinical experience in endocrine conditions includes the use of technologies such as diagnostic continuous glucose monitoring and thyroid ultrasound. We take pride in helping our members live well with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes. We have a research center and actively participate in many clinical studies. My goal is to help members learn about their medical conditions and how they can best live healthy and fulfilling lives.
How I thrive
Keeping a balanced life is a priority for me. Spending time with family and friends is the most important thing I do outside of work. We often enjoy each other’s company over home-cooked meals, tasting new recipes that use fresh produce from farmers markets, and trying out different ethnic foods. Despite a busy schedule, I regularly take time out to exercise; Zumba and Pilates are my favorites. Other activities include choral singing, hiking, and volunteering at my children’s school.
