About me
My name is Navid Massoudi (Nah-veed Mass-oo-dee), and I’m grateful for the opportunity to care for you and your family.
Biography
I was born in Tehran, Iran, and as a teenager I moved to the United States, where I eventually became the first in my family to attend medical school. I practice medicine because it gives me a meaningful place to serve others while constantly challenging me to grow. I enjoy the combination of problem-solving, learning new information every day, meeting people from all walks of life, and collaborating with colleagues who share the same commitment to patient care.
My areas of interest include internal medicine, urgent care, and outpatient surgical procedures, where I value the hands-on ability to diagnose and treat members directly. Alongside my clinical work, I serve as faculty at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine, which allows me to take part in training future physicians and passing forward what I’ve learned over the years.
Within Kaiser Permanente, I stay involved in committee and leadership roles, including serving on the Peer Review Committee, working as a Billing and Coding Champion, and contributing as a HealthConnect Champion to improve clinical workflows and electronic health record implementation.
Family, community, and perseverance shape how I live and practice, and I believe that consistent effort and collaboration are key to helping members feel supported and cared for. I approach medicine with the belief that every person deserves to be heard, respected, and treated as an individual with their own goals and challenges. I value hard work, perseverance, and responsibility, and I bring those principles into the exam room every day. I take time to understand not only the medical issue but also the personal circumstances that may affect someone’s health, because people aren’t just a collection of symptoms.
About my practice
I enjoy the constant challenge of medicine. There is always something new to learn, and every day offers an opportunity to sharpen my judgment, expand my knowledge, and work closely with colleagues who share the same commitment to member care. I find meaning in collaborating with members on their care plans rather than dictating to them, especially when balancing multiple medical needs, chronic conditions, or life stresses.
In my urgent care work, I see a wide range of conditions, from acute injuries to complex ongoing medical issues. I’m also interested in outpatient surgical procedures, where being hands-on allows me to diagnose and treat certain problems in the same visit. My faculty role gives me the chance to guide future physicians in developing clinical judgment and professionalism, something I take seriously because teaching reinforces my own standards and keeps me grounded.
How I thrive
Outside the clinic, I stay connected to the community through volunteer work at the Free Clinic of Simi Valley, supporting those in the community who may not otherwise have access to care. Many of the patients I meet there remind me why access, empathy, and practical support matter. The experience keeps me aware of the different barriers people face and strengthens my belief that small, consistent efforts can make a real impact.
Family and community shape how I practice. Raising my children taught me patience, clarity, and the value of setting an example rather than giving instructions. Those lessons carry over into how I speak with members, how I work with colleagues, and how I make decisions. I try to create an environment where members feel supported and involved in their care, because confidence and understanding are part of healing too.
Outside of work, I make it a priority to keep a balanced and active life. I enjoy spending time outdoors camping, fishing, hiking, and traveling whenever I can. I’m an avid reader, and I value opportunities to learn outside of medicine just as much as I do within it. I also appreciate group activities and social gatherings, which help me stay connected to people and strengthen a sense of community. Keeping a variety of interests allows me to recharge, stay grounded, and bring fresh energy to my work with members.
