About me
As a family medicine specialist, my job is to build a home where all of your primary care and preventive care services can be coordinated. I hope you find my Web page helpful in your search for the right match for you and your family’s medical needs.
Biography
I earned both my bachelor’s and medical degrees at the Brown University Program in Liberal Medical Education in Providence, Rhode Island. After 3 years of residency in Kaiser Permanente’s family medicine program in Hollywood, I moved to Kern County to fulfill a National Health Service Corps scholarship. In 2013, I was awarded Family Physician of the Year by the California Academy of Family Physicians, in recognition of my advocacy to protect family medicine training programs in Kern County. I have served in national leadership positions and earned 2 additional degrees as fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. In 2017, I was appointed as assistant clinical professor and member of the Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Brain Trust at the new Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine.
About my practice
I am Filipina and bilingual in Spanish. I have completed additional medical education to meet the healthcare needs of and to eliminate health disparities for LGBTQ+ families. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in Kern County, at East Hills Medical Offices in 2007, I worked at several locations of Clinica Sierra Vista, where I also become bilingual in Spanish. At Kern County, I have served on the regional Southern California Culturally Responsive Care and Diversity Council, championed the Hippocrates Circle Program to increase BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) student interest in health careers, and implemented the first Transgender Care Pathway in 2013.
How I thrive
To Thrive, I always remember to take deep breaths, sleep well, and find humor in most situations. Maintaining strong family bonds is vital to my overall well-being. Also, I try to surround my family and myself with generous, caring friends who make us laugh.
