Welcome to my Web page. It's a pleasure to have this chance to tell you about my work at Kaiser Permanente. Since joining the staff in 1989, I've had the pleasure of serving as a primary care physician, residency teacher and physician-administrator. In 2012, after 17 years as chief of internal medicine, I had the tremendous opportunity to work as an assistant to the medical director at the Los Angeles Medical Center. I've continued a small clinical practice, and remained involved in residency teaching.
Although originally from Brooklyn, NY, I've been in Southern California for many years and now identify myself with Los Angeles. After starting a family, I returned to school and chose medicine as a career. Medicine was a way to combine my interest and abilities in science with my desire to work with people. My medical knowledge allows me to assist members in preventing or controlling diseases, which help them live their lives to the fullest extent possible.
My practice is similar to those of other general internists. It includes adults age 18 and older in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The care I provide includes preventive, diagnosis, and treatment of acute problems, and controlling chronic diseases. I work as a team with our nursing staff, pharmacists, and subspecialty physicians. My nursing staff is available to answer new and returning member phone calls and emails sent to our office. The nurses are very important in communicating with members and in assisting me.
Good health is important for everyone. To balance a busy career, I try to maintain my outside interests, which include family, friends, volunteer activities, and travel.
