About me
My name is Dr. Mandy Randhawa, and it is my honor to welcome you to my Web page. I appreciate this opportunity to share a little bit more about myself and my family medicine practice. To achieve your healthcare goals, it is essential that you feel comfortable with your physician — I hope this page will be the beginning of that!
Biography
My mother has been an inspiration for my decision to go into the medical field for as long as I can remember. She worked in medicine in India before migrating to America and working as a registered nurse. A native Punjabi speaker, my mother often served as an advocate for my family’s medical needs — helping them navigate an often-confusing healthcare system for the best results. But, when I witnessed my own mother struggle to have her healthcare needs met after receiving an improper diagnosis, I knew medicine was where I could make a real impact. I went to UC Santa Cruz for my premedical degree in molecular and cell development biology. For medical school, I was drawn to Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica. While situated in a poverty-stricken area of the Caribbean, as a medical student I was sent into the community to help bring care to those with minimal to no access to long-term care. It was a very humbling experience, and I appreciate the perspective it brought me as a physician. My residency was completed with the Valley Health Team Family Medicine Residency Program in Fresno, California, where I trained regularly in the Community Regional Medical Center. After my residency, I joined Kaiser Permanente in Kern County. A born and raised Bakersfield native, I decided to start my career as a physician here because of my unique understanding of the diverse needs of our community, as well as a desire to give back.
About my practice
As a family medicine physician, I take my responsibility as the first person you see in your healthcare journey very seriously. I firmly believe that a successful partnership with members comes from open communication and shared decision-making. We will build your healthcare goals through a team approach that puts your individual needs first. I have a passion for investigating medical concerns and have an eye for detail. Preventive care is the best medicine, and I will work with you to look at your healthcare as a whole.
How I thrive
Spending time with my family is my center. As the mother of a young child, I value being surrounded by those that I love most. I also enjoy finding healthy alternatives when cooking and have a passion for travel — especially to Hawaii.
