About me

Hi, my name is Dr. Lusiana Kartawidjaja. My last name is so long that most people call me by the first initial, which is K; thus: Dr. K. Here is an easy way to pronounce my first name: Lucy Anna. I am glad that you are reading my biography today so you can get to know me better.

Biography

I was born in Indonesia and grew up in the U.S. When I was young, my family was poor, and when I was about two years old, we moved to the city. I became sick with gastroenteritis and was very dehydrated and lethargic. At that time, my parents did not know any physicians since we were new to the area. With the help of a neighbor, my father was able to get a pediatrician to come to see me at home. The pediatrician gave me IV fluid and stayed with me until I felt better. He refused the payment that my father offered, since he knew that we were poor by the condition of the house we lived in. As I grew up, my parents always reminded me about this incident and they also reminded me to be passionate in whatever I do.

About my practice

I chose family practice as my specialty because I enjoy knowing each patient as a whole person, physically and mentally, which helps me manage his or her diseases better. I like to my patient personally and treat them as if they were members of my family.

How I thrive

I try to balance my work and family time. Since my daughter plays violin and softball, my spouse and I are always busy attending her practices, concerts and games.
