About me

Born in the Midwest and raised by immigrant parents, I learned firsthand how discipline, resilience, perseverance, and work ethic are essential for achieving life goals. I received my doctorate degree from Southern California College of Optometry. I completed residency training in Ocular Disease and Low Vision Rehabilitation at Lighthouse International through the State University of New York (SUNY). I practiced at Lighthouse International for 3 years while serving as adjunct clinical faculty for SUNY College of Optometry. Returning to California, I worked at Western University of Health Sciences & a private practice for nearly 7 years before joining Kaiser Permanente.

About my practice

My practice philosophy focuses on patient-centered care. I aim to instill hope in patients that it is possible to remain safe, healthy, and independent despite having vision problems. I empower them by prescribing rehabilitation strategies, custom optical systems, assistive technologies, and discussing available resources and support services. I am dedicated to improving people’s quality of life with practical real-world solutions and assembling a team that treats all people with dignity and respect. Although having permanent vision loss can be scary, once people learn modifications in how to perform daily activities, they can overcome challenges associated with vision loss and continue to live a happy and productive life. They just have to learn a different way of doing simple everyday tasks that we, as sighted people, take for granted.

I manage patients with congenital, inherited, and degenerative eye conditions such as albinism, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, degenerative myopia, glaucoma, macular degeneration, optic nerve atrophy, retinitis pigmentosa, retinopathy of prematurity, Stargardt’s Disease, and others.

How I thrive

Running allows me to clear my mind, problem solve, and gain a fresh perspective to make better decisions. For strength training, Pilates challenges me differently and balances out the cardio. Prayer, meditations, and mindfulness practices round out my wellness routine by strengthening my immune system and keeping me healthy.
