Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page. I hope the information provided here gives you a sense of who I am. I’m very passionate about the practice of medicine and the field of nephrology. I’m excited to bring this passion to San Diego.
I was born in California, and after several stops as part of my education and medical training, I’m ecstatic to be back. I grew up in the Bay Area. My parents moved to the United States from India in the early 1970s just before I was born. As a child, I was fortunate to have the world's greatest pediatrician and I think I looked forward to going to the doctor more than just about anything else. From an early age, I knew I wanted to be a physician.
About my practice
I strive to treat all aspects of kidney impairment. In the hospital, I manage acute kidney failure, fluid and electrolyte abnormalities, and people newly transitioning to dialysis. I also care for several members on a stable outpatient hemodialysis regimen. In the office, I see members with impairment in kidney function, blood pressure that is difficult to control, and disorders of electrolytes.
How I thrive
I stay well by being active. I make going to the gym a regular part of my day and enjoy running and working out. I also enjoy playing tennis with my wife. Nothing relaxes me more than taking our dog to the dog beach. I also try to stay sharp by reading as much as possible. This includes articles on new guidelines and treatment strategies in the field of nephrology, but also works of fiction. Despite all the recent technological advances, I find few things as satisfying as curling up in bed with a good book.
