About me
Welcome to my Web page. I look forward to meeting you, and working together to care for your health!
Biography
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and attended college at UC Berkeley, where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology. My family still lives in the Bay Area. I went to Boston for medical school, where I got my master's in public health. My community service there earned me the Massachusetts Medical Society Scholars Award, the William F. McNary, Jr. Award, and an Albert Schweitzer Fellowship. My interests are disease prevention and community health promotion. These interests fit perfectly with family medicine. While I was completing my two-year sports medicine fellowship at UCLA, I had the privilege of serving as one of the team physicians for the football, men's soccer, swimming, and diving teams. My wife is also a family physician at Kaiser Permanente's Panorama City Medical Center.
About my practice
I’m an attending physician in the Family Medicine Department, and serve as the residency program director and assistant chief. I’m also trained in sports medicine, and formerly served as the assistant sports medicine fellowship director. I teach and mentor medical students from UCLA and USC. Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center is a great place to work and teach because it has such great staff and members. My team includes nurses, residents, and medical students. We take pride in providing quick responses to our members’ phone and email messages. We strive to take care of all our members’ needs—big or small. And we try to have fun, too!
How I thrive
Being a sports medicine specialist as well as practicing family medicine, I know full well how being physically active is critical to a long and happy life. The mind-body-spirit connection exists, and I try to address all three—not just with my members, but also in my own life. I look forward to running, bicycle riding, and swimming to keep my energy levels up. Sports also serve as a way to challenge and push myself. I began doing triathlons a few years ago. I've competed in an Ironman triathlon, multiple marathons, and centuries (which are 100-mile bike rides). My wife and I enjoy spending time with our young twins—a boy and girl—and traveling.
