About me
Hi. I’m Dr. John Sasaki, a pediatrician with Kaiser Permanente’s Lancaster office. I enjoy working with youngsters and teens both in and out of my office, perhaps because I am just a kid at heart. My wife and I have four children, so I can empathize with parents facing poopy diapers, as well as those dealing with the teenage years. Don’t worry; they’ll make it through okay.
Biography
As a youngster, I always looked up to my pediatrician. Despite a busy schedule, with two offices, he took the time to listen to me and offer sound advice. After seeing how he practiced medicine and how he enjoyed what he did, I decided to follow in his footsteps and study pediatrics. I went to medical school in Chicago, spent some time aboard an aircraft carrier in the Navy and then went on to serve my pediatric internship at Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center and my residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. With both Bruin and Trojan heritage, I just can’t lose when the big cross-town game is played! With Kaiser Permanente I have found a group that works really well together. I enjoy being a part of Kaiser Permanente’s student outreach program that encourages middle school students to pursue medical careers. I’d like to think someday, I’ll have the same influence on a youngster that my pediatrician had on me.
About my practice
Working with children and adolescents helps keep me young. I enjoy serving them and their parents. Whether it is the sniffles or something more serious, I’ll take the time needed to treat both the symptoms and psyche with care and concern.
How I thrive
Working with Kaiser Permanente has allowed me to find a good work/life balance. While I love my practice and my members, I also enjoy spending time with my family, participating in running and jogging events, and keeping stretched out practicing karate. I am constantly amazed by the energy and resiliency of children. Seeing them blossom and develop into fully functional young adults is one of the key things that help me thrive.
