My gender: Female
Where I practice
I feel I was born to be a family physician. I am passionate about helping people stay healthy, mentally and physically. These two aspects are so interlinked, and I love when I can help a patient understand the importance of positive attitude, joie de vivre, and good self-care.
I was born in Los Angeles and greatly influenced by my joyful mother who was a brilliant writer. First in my family to enter a career in medicine, I attended Occidental College, then USC School of Medicine, followed by a Family Medicine Residency here at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. After working for four years on the Navajo Indian Reservation in New Mexico, I returned to Los Angeles and Kaiser Permanente. I have an understanding partner, two children and three cats, and I love dance, hikes, film, books and exploring local restaurants.
About my practice
I see a wide range of patients, all ages, and love that aspect of family medicine. I am conversant in Spanish and enjoy the chance to practice my language skills with many of my patients (who often correct and teach me!). I am thrilled by the challenge of better controlling medical problems like diabetes, and also the opportunity to PREVENT diseases through educating my patients. I am happy to be part of a strong team of family physicians, residents, and nurses. We all work together and consult with one another, and the intellectual exchange is stimulating. Our common goal is to take good care of our patients and each other.
How I thrive
I dance whenever possible—all types; lately African dance is my favorite. Yoga stretches and breathing also help me stay centered. I try to live in the moment, enjoy every day, tell my friends and family often how I appreciate them. Surviving breast cancer twice has highlighted the importance of that!
