Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page. I'm happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice in the Department of General Surgery. I'm grateful to be able to work with my wonderful patients and coworkers at Kaiser Permanente, and I look forward to meeting you.
I was born in the small city of New Bedford, Massachusetts. After graduating from high school, I went to the University of Miami on an academic and sports scholarship for competitive swimming. I completed my medical training at the University of Miami School of Medicine, where I received the only full academic scholarship given annually. In 2002, I moved to San Diego and completed my general surgery residency in 2009. During that time, my surgical research was recognized in more than 20 publications and received a number of awards. I have been with Kaiser Permanente for five years, and perform all aspects of general surgery but specialize in complex breast cancer and esophageal cancer patients.
About my practice
As a member of the Kaiser Permanente General Surgery Department, I encourage patients to register at Kaiser Permanente.org where they can have access to a wealth of medical information as well as their own health record. In my experience, a great physician-patient relationship is one built upon empathy, communication, and patient education.
How I thrive
I believe that a healthy diet and regular exercise are just as important as medication in treating disease. I'm an avid runner and love competitions. When not running, I enjoy triathlons and have completed Ironman five times!
