Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page! I'm happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my work as an interventional cardiologist at Kaiser Permanente San Diego.
I was born and raised in New York. I attended college in Pennsylvania and medical school in Washington, D.C. My wife and I moved to San Diego in 1998, and we have found that this is a great place to raise our family. I began my medical career by serving as a physician in the United States. Navy. I spent 14 years on active duty, most recently as the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. After more than 20 years of service, I retired from the United States Navy Reserves in 2012. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2008, and I could not be happier with my decision.
About my practice
I am a board certified interventional cardiologist, which means I perform angiograms and angioplasty procedures (putting stents into blocked heart arteries). I am also trained in peripheral vascular angioplasty, meaning that I perform procedures to unblock leg, kidney, neck, and arm arteries. In addition to doing these procedures, I see members every week in the office. I enjoy the balance of doing procedures and forming relationships with my members. In San Diego, Kaiser Permanente has a partnership with Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla -- this is the hospital where we do all of our open-heart surgeries, angioplasties, and other invasive/interventional heart related procedures. I am currently the director of interventional cardiology and the co-director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Scripps La Jolla.
How I thrive
With three daughters and one son, I stay active and involved in their numerous activities. I have coached many football, soccer, softball, and basketball teams over the years. I enjoy exercising, playing basketball and golf, as well as biking and skiing. As a family we enjoy going to church and traveling, as well as running, swimming, and skiing together.
