About me

Welcome to my Web page! I am proud to be a member of your neurology team, and I hope this information will help you to get to know me a little better.

Biography

I was born here in San Diego and grew up in the Paradise Hills area. My father was in the Navy, and my mom worked as a nurse for several decades, including a nurse for over 20 years at Kaiser Permanente here in San Diego. I left San Diego to study biology at UC Irvine. I then studied medicine at A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Missouri, where I spent my pre-clinical years, and did clinical rotations in Phoenix, Arizona. I stayed in Phoenix for my medicine internship at Maricopa Integrated Health Systems, the county hospital for the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. I then moved to Sacramento for neurology residency at UC Davis and then Los Angeles for neuromuscular medicine fellowship at UCLA. I joined Kaiser Permanente right after fellowship in 2020. Throughout training, my ultimate goal was always to return home to San Diego to serve the community that I grew up with and cherish, and I am grateful to be able to do so as a neurologist here. My wife is also from San Diego, and we now have 1 wonderful son.

About my practice

I am board certified in neurology and neuromuscular medicine. As a neurologist, I treat numerous forms of neurological disorders. However, my area of interest is neuromuscular medicine, which deals with dysfunctions of the peripheral nerves, muscles, or the connection between them called the neuromuscular junction. This includes but is not limited to entrapment neuropathies such as carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy (including autoimmune neuropathies such as chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy and genetic neuropathies/Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease), myasthenia gravis, autoimmune myositis, genetic myopathies/muscular dystrophies, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). I also perform electromyography/nerve conduction studies, which help aid the diagnosis of neuromuscular conditions.

How I thrive

I believe that life is multifaceted and that balance is important. I stay active by weight lifting, playing baseball/softball, playing tennis, biking, and hiking. I also like sampling good food and trying various restaurants around the city. I read every day, mostly non-fiction. I enjoy playing music on my guitar and on the piano as well as listening to good music, in particular Electronic Dance Music ( EDM) . Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and dog.
