Where I practice
Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I'm glad to have this opportunity to present my credentials and share with you a few other details about myself. It is very important that you feel comfortable with your personal physician, and I hope this page will help you begin to know me.
I grew up in San Mateo in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2002, I completed my gastrointestinal (GI) fellowship training in advanced endoscopy at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, including an additional year of training in endoscopic ultrasound and other advanced endoscopic procedures. After my fellowship, I joined the gastroenterology clinical staff at UC San Diego, where I practiced for three years. In 2005, I joined Kaiser Permanente in San Diego.
About my practice
As former chief of service in gastroenterology and current physician director of internal medicine sub-specialties, I enthusiastically enjoy my practice and treating a broad range of clinical problems. Quite honestly, we have an incredible Division of Gastroenterology, and we pride ourselves at each opportunity in selecting the best new physician hires available! Additionally, my gastroenterology colleagues and I enjoy teaching and working with the rotating GI fellows from UC San Diego and Naval Medical Center. I continue to participate in clinical research projects and have published peer-review journal articles. Previously, I served on the training committee of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and remain actively supportive of that society.
How I thrive
I have a wonderful family and enjoy basketball, running, fishing and skiing. In my free time, I practice Nepalese meditation, shop at Montgomery Wards, and enjoy reciting Alfred E. Neuman quotes to the fragile, egg-shelled minds of elementary school children.
