About me

Hello and welcome to my Web page! My name is Dr. Gina Cha, and I am thrilled to have this opportunity to share a little bit more about myself and what you can expect from me as your family medicine physician. I look forward to the opportunity to partner with you to discuss your healthcare needs.

Biography

Having been born and raised in Porterville, California, has given me a love for the San Joaquin Valley. I credit that upbringing as the reason I chose to go into medicine early on. Kern County has such a diverse and culturally rich community, so it is critical for healthcare providers to address their patients with awareness for each person’s unique needs. I wanted to make an impact in my community by addressing disparities in healthcare, especially through cultural competency. I completed my bachelor’s degree at UCLA, then attended the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Sint Maarten for my medical degree. From there, I chose to return to my hometown community to complete the Rio Bravo Family Medicine Residency Program. My residency was an incredibly rewarding experience because I was able to take part in my patients’ medical journeys, learning stories about their families, lives, hobbies, and passion for life. The personal experiences I had with each patient were my motivation to continue my path in family medicine. Now, joining the Kaiser Permanente family, I am backed by a team of staff and fellow physicians that share in my passion for providing high-quality care for members.

About my practice

Understanding the many differences each member can have, including beliefs, culture, background, and age, is the basis for helping me to address each member’s distinctive needs. With open communication and through shared decision making, I can collaborate with you to create the best holistic medical care management plan. By building trust through conversation, I work to educate members on medicine that is based on evidence and current research and on preventive actions they can take to improve their overall health. I am here to help members and listen.

How I thrive

I believe the best life balance is surrounding yourself with the people you love. I cherish spending time with my friends and family, living new experiences and creating memories together. I just recently picked up a new hobby of salsa and bachata dancing, and I also enjoy traveling — exploring new locations at every opportunity.
