Where I practice
Hi, and welcome to my Web page! I am very happy to have this opportunity to introduce myself. It is a privilege to be part of the Southern California Kaiser Permanente Medical Group. I hope the information presented here helps you to find a provider that matches the needs of you and your family.
I was born and raised in Southern California. A lifelong Dodgers and Lakers fan, I regularly listened to Vin and Chick on radio. I lived through many earthquakes, including the 1971 quake in my hometown of Sylmar. I attended Stanford University, majoring in human biology, and graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine in 1989. As a child, my father served as a powerful example of a caring health provider while he nursed me through many childhood illnesses. His influence, a love of the sciences, and a desire to be of service to others made medicine a natural career choice. I remain very happy with the path I have taken, and have practiced pediatrics for over 25 years. My home life is spent with my wonderful wife of 25 years, and three special young men – my boys. Our active household also includes four dogs: a Jack Russell, Maltese, shih tzu, and my personal favorite, a pug. My interests range from spending time with family, music, sports, and reading to baking birthday cakes, and playing with the dogs.
About my practice
As a pediatrician, I work with families to establish good health practices in childhood that I hope children carry with them throughout their lives. These include getting regular check-ups and immunizations, reminding patients and parents about safety in their daily lives, exercising regularly, and developing good nutritional habits. I work with a diverse group of general pediatricians and specialists that are a great resource of knowledge and experience. As a father and a husband who has had to seek care for his family, I am guided by the principle to treat my patients with the same compassionate care as I would my loved ones.
How I thrive
Leading a well-balanced life is key to good health. Life balance is reflected in our work and play, in teaching and learning, and in activity and rest. I find balance when I study subjects I know very little about. I am always on the hunt for a new book or documentary film – especially ones that provide a different perspective. I find balance in walking and hiking outdoors, as the beauty of our planet always replenishes my energy. Laughter, often considered the best medicine, is a vital to my wellbeing. I actively seek out opportunities to foster and enjoy the nourishment of laughter, sometimes spending a few hours at The Improv or Ice Palace on the weekend. I feel most balanced and fulfilled when I am spending time connecting with family and friends.
