About me
I earned my bachelor of science degree at the University of Richmond in Virginia and my medical degree at Ohio State University. After that, I did a family medicine internship and residency at Kaiser Permanente’s Los Angeles Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in sports medicine. I have practiced in Santa Clarita, Phoenix, and Oahu, but I always wanted to move the San Diego area. Every time I would drive by the Carlsbad medical office on my way to my grandma’s house, I would say, “I could work right there!” I’m excited to finally be here.
Biography
I have wanted to be a doctor since I was about 3 years old. When I was in high school, my biology teacher nominated me to participate in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. During this program, I fell in love with the idea of taking care of patients and their families and was inspired to pursue a career as a physician. Throughout medical school, I thought I wanted to go into every field I studied. I learned from one of my mentors that I can do that in family medicine. I love being a primary care provider. I have the opportunity to treat the whole body rather than just one part of it or one condition. I’ve also done advanced training in sports medicine, which is of great interest to me, and I use this to treat all members no matter their level of “athlete.”
About my practice
With each member I see, I ask myself how I’d want a friend or family member to be treated, and I strive to meet that standard. I love sitting down with members and learning what’s going on in their lives, both medically and personally, in order to understand how I can best help them. I treat you, not your algorithm, and I want to treat you the way you want to be treated.
How I thrive
I practice self-care by attempting to work out regularly. I enjoy surfing, yoga, hiking, and running. I don’t really enjoy weightlifting, but I know it is good for me. I love spending time with my husband, our son, and our 2 cane corsos. If I can somehow work in my yard or on my terrariums while being with my family, even better!
