Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I am a hospitalist, which means I care for members who are being treated in the hospital at Palomar Medical Center.
I grew up in Los Angeles County and wanted to be a physician since I was about 8 years old. I started doing hospital-based medicine in 1997 at George Washington University in Washington, DC, and then moved to San Diego in 2003 to work at UC San Diego. I came to Kaiser Permanente in 2007. I am married and have three children—two boys and a girl. My wife is a nurse.
My philosophy as a physician is to be upfront with members and their families about their diagnosis, as well as their prognosis, and to keep them informed about the expected tests, outcomes, length of stay, treatments, and everything else they need to know. I try to think about what I would want to know and how I would want to be treated if I was hospitalized.
I am a longtime vegetarian, and I love to cook. I like to try new foods and spices from around the world. My hobbies include cycling, gardening, and travel. I enjoy all sorts of family activities, including Boy Scouts and camping, traveling with my family, exploring new places and museums, and trying new restaurants and foods.
