Where I practice
Hi! Welcome to my Web page. I appreciate this opportunity to share a little about myself and hopefully help you in choosing your psychiatrist.
I have always enjoyed helping others. This led to my desire to enter the medical field. My training included osteopathic medical school in Kansas City, an internship in Ohio, a general psychiatry residency in Philadelphia, and a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship in Tucson. I am board certified in adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. I grew up in upstate New York dealing with snow and cold. This led to a strong desire to move to a warm, sunny climate near a beach. My family and I moved to San Diego in 1993. It was at that time that I began a private practice. I've also held a variety of staffing positions at local psychiatric treatment facilities. In 2001, I started full-time here at Kaiser Permanente so that I could focus more on patient care and less time in dealing with insurance companies.
About my practice
I take a team approach to my practice, which includes physicians, nurses, and therapists with PhDs and master's degrees. The whole team works together to provide well-rounded psychological care. My approach is to include you, the patient, as an active member of this team in providing high-quality care in a straightforward but sensitive manner. I believe in using medical skills and knowledge, while listening and responding to what patients need. At the same time, I try to emphasize healthy living and preventative care. I consider it a privilege to help others.
How I thrive
Life to me is about balance. I find this balance in the many roles I have, not only here at Kaiser Permanente, but also outside of work with my family, friends, and the new people I meet. I exercise regularly and enjoy a variety of different sports-related activities. I also have a passion for music and art in its many forms.
