About me
Hi, my name is Dr. Kim. I'm happy to have this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I think it is important for you to feel comfortable with your physician. I am currently a pediatrician at the Riverside Medical Center. I have practiced over 14 years in Pasadena in a private group practice setting and, in 2018, I joined the Kaiser Permanente Group. I hope this Web page will help you to get to know me a little better.
Biography
I can't remember a time in my life when I wanted to be anything other than a doctor. I didn't always think I wanted to be a pediatrician, but now I cannot imagine being any other kind of doctor. I find so much joy in working with families and helping kids grow up healthy and able to reach their best potential. I studied medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine and trained in pediatrics at UCLA. I did a chief year at UCLA following my residency and then joined Huntington Heath Physicians shortly after, where I was a partner in the group for many years. I have learned and grown as a doctor, practicing pediatrics with incredible doctors there, but decided after many years that I needed a change of pace and joined the Kaiser Permanente Family. As with all working parents, finding work-life balance is a constant challenge and my work opportunity here is helping me to spend a little more time with my young children. I have 2 wonderful children who are keeping me honest about what parenting in real life is like. I am excited to be here, meeting new families and building new relationships.
About my practice
We have a great team of doctors and nurses here. We have a great team approach at every level of service. However, I do believe that having a regular doctor who knows your child and family through well visits and sick visits as much as possible is ideal. I think well visits are important to track overall well-being, growth, and development and not just to catch up on shots. The more the kids see a trusted familiar person at their sick visits, more comfortable they feel. Sometimes seeing your regular doctor is not as convenient, but it is worth it for the benefit of building relationships when possible. Plan ahead when possible so your children can have a doctor they trust with their health and development and feel comfortable asking questions.
How I thrive
I find balance in life by spending time with my family as much as possible. We love to be outdoors hiking, biking, and just playing at the park. We volunteer in our community and church.
