Welcome to my physician Web page! I am very fortunate to be part of the Kaiser Permanente group. I treat all members as if they were part of my own family, and I look forward to being part of the wonderful Kaiser Permanente team who will manage your care and ensure that you live well.
I am originally from Florida but moved to beautiful Southern California 8 years ago. I was educated at Brown University, Boston University, and Yale and specialize in cardiac anesthesiology at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. I majored in psychology in college, so I really enjoy getting to know members and helping them feel relaxed and comfortable before surgery. I am also particularly interested in clinical education and enjoy teaching medical students, student nurse anesthetists, and anesthesia residents. My research background focuses upon evaluating new cardiac techniques with echocardiography.
As a cardiac anesthesiologist, I am a part of a highly trained team that includes cardiac surgeons, cardiac nurses, perfusionists, and anesthesia technicians. We all function together to ensure that you experience the highest level of care during your cardiac surgery or cardiac procedure. During your surgery, I manage the major aspects related to your anesthesia care as well as perform a special ultrasound of your heart called echocardiography; this enables our team to constantly evaluate your heart during your cardiac surgery.
I am a fitness enthusiast and try to be a healthy role model for colleagues and members. I enjoy outdoor activities. I am also a nationally and internationally competitive figure skater. I really enjoy traveling around the world and learning about new cultures and trying new cuisines. I also stay up to date with my medical practice by attending conferences and reading the latest medical articles.
