Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I was born in Pasadena. I enjoy playing and watching sports, especially basketball. I chose to become a shoulder and elbow subspecialist due to the wide range of patients I see and the challenging problems that I encounter on a daily basis.
My training began at Cal (Go Bears!), continued at UC San Francisco Medical School and USC for my orthopedic residency, and finally ended in 2008 at Harvard-Massachusetts General for a shoulder reconstruction fellowship.
My practice is a high-volume shoulder and elbow subspecialty referral practice. Cases can range from a 30-minute shoulder arthroscopy to a four-hour open shoulder reconstruction. Philosophically, I prefer conservative, nonoperative methods whenever possible. That being said, the technical aspects of surgery are something that I love about my job. In addition, I am active in clinical and basic science research. Our team has recently begun a great collaboration with Sam Ward, a muscle scientist at UC San Diego, so I often discuss participating in research protocols with my patients as appropriate.
I live a healthy lifestyle by being positive, playing sports, and spending time with my wife and child.
