Where I practice
Hello and welcome to my Web page. I am Dr. Ann McIntosh and I am a board certified general psychiatrist. I'm happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and to tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente and I look forward to working with you.
I am a native Southern Californian who was born at Kaiser Permanente. I did not always know that I wanted to be a doctor. I was born into a family of educators and I did, in fact, work as a teacher for a number of years before I went to medical school. I have always welcomed the opportunity to have an impact upon the lives of others. As a psychiatrist, I feel privileged to help enhance the lives of my patients. My hope is to have a positive impact upon their lives.
About my practice
As a career, psychiatry provides a special opportunity to connect and help people in a very meaningful way, utilizing medical skills and knowledge, but also listening and responding to what patients need. It is a privilege to communicate with patients about what most concerns them and assist them with appropriate follow-up and treatment plans. I feel honored that patients trust me with the details of their lives, and I only hope I can earn their respect.
How I thrive
I firmly believe in Kaiser Permanente's philosophy of being healthy in body, mind, and spirit and I try to live it in my life. My family life is my major priority, especially since I am a single parent. Most of my free time is spent with my child. I volunteer at her school, and take her to play dates and other outings. We spend quality time together each day. I do schedule some time for myself. My favorite hobbies are tennis, reading, and history.
