About me

Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I know that the decision to seek neurosurgical care can be a scary one. I strive to help each of my members in every way possible through kindness, professionalism, encouragement, and empathy. I pledge to advise you and treat you as if you were a member of my own family. I believe strongly in the importance of building a bond with members, explaining medical issues in clear language, and working with you as a team to come up with a plan that works for you and is medically sound. In fact, I pursued medicine for this very reason, and I look forward to meeting you and working together to help provide you with high-quality, safe neurosurgical care.

Biography

I was born and raised in New York City. I attended Harvard College and Columbia Medical School before completing neurosurgical residency at New York University and an additional fellowship year at USC. I feel so fortunate to be practicing neurosurgery in Los Angeles and to have the opportunity to deliver neurosurgical care to the Kaiser Permanente community.

About my practice

I specialize in diseases of the brain and spinal cord, including tumors, issues with blood vessels and bleeding, hydrocephalus, and problems with the spine due to aging or injury. Surgery to treat issues with the brain or spine is an incredibly powerful tool that can dramatically help certain members. But like with all powerful tools, it must be used carefully and only in the proper circumstances. Whenever possible and prudent, I like to recommend nonsurgical management if I think there is a chance to avoid surgery. I believe in saving surgery for circumstances when there is no other good option, and my first priority is to always keep you safe.

How I thrive

I am a family man, first and foremost. I have a lovely wife and 2 children. We enjoy all things active and outdoors, including camping, hiking, gardening, baseball, tennis, jumping rope, and having weekly “family Olympics” challenges. For me, a day is not complete unless I have been outdoors and moved my body in some way. I love that Kaiser Permanente reinforces this model of health, and I strive to live it each and every day.
