About me

Welcome to my Web page. I am excited about having the opportunity to introduce myself to my patients and their families, and I look forward to working with them to provide high-quality care.

Biography

I am originally from El Salvador. I moved to the United States in the mid-1980s and completed my higher education here in the States. While in El Salvador, I volunteered at a children's hospital during the worst times of the civil war. In that hospital, I witnessed firsthand the effects that the war was having on the children—not only the physical wounds inflicted but also the psychological scars left behind. That experience transformed me deeply and moved me to pursue a career in medicine. I completed my residency in adult psychiatry and my fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Stanford University. After that, I relocated to Bakersfield to join Kaiser Permanente after my graduation in 2006.

About my practice

Here at the Behavioral Health Offices, we are a cohesive and well-integrated team. Our approach to patient care is multidisciplinary and thorough. Being part of this team has offered me the opportunity to grow as a professional as well as a person. I believe in doing the very best I can for every patient I have the privilege of treating. I genuinely care for every one of them and strive to provide the care that I would want my own family to receive. I have certifications in both pediatric and adult psychiatry. I am also fluent in Spanish. This allows me the opportunity to serve a diverse population of patients.

How I thrive

I am fortunate to have a very supportive husband who keeps me well grounded. We spend a lot of our time with our children. In my spare time, I enjoy the outdoors, running, jogging, and amateur photography. Taking time to enjoy my family recharges me and helps me keep healthy.
