About me

Welcome to my Web page. I’m an orthopedist who specializes in sports medicine, especially for those weekend warriors that many of us have become as we’ve gotten older.

Biography

I was raised and educated in Michigan—the son of Jamaican parents. My wife of over 30 years and I have two wonderful and successful children. For me, the three of them are a constant source of pride. After completing medical school at Michigan State University, and my orthopedic residency training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, I did a fellowship in sports medicine at the Kaiser Permanent/UC San Diego combined program under the tutelage of the late Dr. Dale Daniel—a true pioneer. In the field of sports medicine, I continue to pay close attention to problems of the shoulder.

About my practice

With some colleagues at Fontana Medical Center, I helped start the sports medicine fellowship program for family medicine physicians. I remain very proud of the graduates of this program who have gone on to excellent sports medicine practices around the country. Over the past few years, I’m also finding significant fulfillment from providing volunteer medical care for people in our local underserved areas.

How I thrive

I’m a runner or, rather, a jogger. I try to jog three days per week. I’ve participated in several marathons and half marathons. I attend spin classes two days per week. I’m very fortunate to have a core group of very dear friends with whom I share my life. We play cards regularly, which helps me manage stress. I enjoy fishing and, once per year, go on a fly-fishing trip to the Rogue River in Oregon with a group of current and retired Kaiser Permanente physicians. Many of the participants of this adventure have participated in this trek for over 25 years. An interest in photography and being a computer geek wannabe, help round me out. I’m also a big Lakers fan and attend a few games each year. My true fortune comes from the rich diversity that is my family and friends. They have become a huge part of my foundation and my success.
