About me

Biography

I am originally from Pakistan, but I have spent the past 25 years in the United States. I have most of that time in Dallas, TX but have also worked in New York and Virginia. I completed my Internal Medicine Residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. What drew me to this specialty was the complexity of our patients, the focus on lifelong learning, and the long-term relationships built with patients. Since then, I have served as the lead physician of Internal Medicine at Parkland Health Systems, served as the Chief Medical Director of ChenMed, and am excited to serve as a Telehealth provider at Northwest Permanente. I have two daughters, one is currently in New York for medical school, and one is currently in Connecticut for her residency. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies/television, cooking, and traveling. I am excited for this new chapter of my life and look forward to meeting everyone!

About my practice

My approach to patient care has revolved around ensuring equity, providing quality healthcare for disadvantaged populations, and advocating for patients, whether that be socioeconomically disadvantaged patients at Parkland Hospital or the aging population at ChenMed. During my time at Parkland, I was also the only physician providing medical services to refugee populations through organizations such as Mosaic Family Services. My philosophy with patient care is to treat patients with compassion and respect, til be transparent and engage in conversation with patients, and to keep striving towards excellence in patient care. My philosophy with patient care is that there are so many people involved in the care of one patient, and medicine as a field requires physicians to be team players with the best interests of patients in mind.

As a virtual primary care physician, I don’t see my patients in person but instead provide care primarily via video (preferred) and telephone visits. When patients need to be seen in person, one of my care team colleagues can see them, and together we’ll coordinate care. My experience in my role has given me confidence that I can develop meaningful relationships with my patients and work together with them and others on our care team to create effective comprehensive care plans.

How I thrive

I thrive by spending time with my children, watching movies and television. I also enjoy cooking, anything from Pakistani dishes to Chinese food to Zucchini bread. I enjoy traveling and make it a point to make an international trip every couple of years. My favorite country I have ever visited is Turkey! I enjoy decluttering, and just finished decluttering my entire house!
