About me
I was born in New York and later moved to Salt Lake City before settling in Portland, Oregon in 2007. My early experiences and passion for helping others guided me toward a career in healthcare, driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on people's lives. I earned my bachelor's from the University of Utah and my master's from Gonzaga University, where dedicated mentors and patient resilience deeply inspired me. My journey in healthcare has been shaped by a commitment to continuous learning and compassionate care. I chose to practice Psychiatry because of its profound impact on improving patients' quality of life and the opportunity it provides to develop long-term relationships with those I treat. Outside of medicine, I enjoy skiing in the winter and playing tennis and pickleball in the summer, which help me maintain a balanced and fulfilling life. I am dedicated to advancing my skills and knowledge to provide the best possible care for my patients and am grateful for the chance to contribute to the health and well-being of my community.
About my practice
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 17 years of nursing experience, I am dedicated to enhancing well-being through comprehensive psychiatric care. I hold a Master's from Gonzaga University and have extensive clinical training in mood disorders, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. My practice prioritizes patient-centered care, employing thorough psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, medication management, and tailored psychotherapy. I am committed to serving a general patient population with a special focus on the LGBTQ+ community, emphasizing cultural competence, crisis intervention, and multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure holistic and continuous care. I am passionate about advancing mental health research and continuously enhancing my skills. I value the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients, support their recovery, and contribute to a supportive and innovative healthcare environment at Kaiser Permanente. My diverse background in procedural nursing, pain management, and neurological ICU care enables me to provide well-rounded and empathetic psychiatric care.
How I thrive
I thrive by nurturing my well-being in mind, body, and spirit through activities and relationships that bring me joy and balance. Traveling with friends invigorates me and expands my horizons, while my rescue dog, whom I share with my spouse, is a constant source of adventure and companionship. We take him on as many adventures as possible. I love kayaking, hiking, and swimming in the summer, which keeps me active and connected to nature. Spending quality time with friends and family is a cornerstone of my life, and I'm especially excited about the upcoming arrival of a new niece and nephew, whom I look forward to showering with love. To clear my mind, I enjoy long walks in nature, which provide a serene escape and a chance to reflect. These diverse activities and my commitment to meaningful relationships help me stay grounded and rejuvenated, allowing me to approach both my personal and professional life with enthusiasm and clarity.
