About me

My father was a dentist in the Indian Health Service, and I grew up in Maryland, Nevada, Alaska, and Oregon. I completed high school in Redmond, and fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. I went on to attend Oregon State University and graduated with an honors bachelor of science in biology as well as minors in both in Spanish and chemistry. I had shadowed several family medicine physicians and knew it was my calling. I attended medical school at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima. During my clinical years in medical school, I had the chance to learn under Northwest Permanente physicians and made it a long-term goal to work with these great doctors again. I completed my family medicine residency at PeaceHealth Medical Center in Vancouver. I am grateful for the invaluable education and mentorship I received at both programs.

About my practice

I became a family medicine physician so that I could take care of everyone. I absolutely love seeing newborns home fresh from the hospital and helping my hospice patients experience a comfortable end of life. During residency, I completed extra training in maternal-child health and have continued to love obstetrics and pediatrics ever since. I also perform osteopathic manipulative treatment for an array of musculoskeletal problems, particularly for chronic neck and back pain. Before working at Kaiser Permanente, I worked extensively with migrant farm workers and completed a medical mission in El Salvador. Caring for Spanish-speaking people has continued to be a focus of mine. Currently, I am working on a diploma in mountain medicine as well as becoming a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.

How I thrive

To me, thriving means staying active. Outside of medicine, I love spending time with my husband by rock climbing, mountaineering, camping/backpacking, hiking, and skiing. I have previously summitted Mount Adams, South Sister, and Mount St. Helens (and hope for Mount Hood next). We love to travel, whether it be abroad or on road trips cross-country. On rainier Portland days, you might find me practicing yoga or curling up with a good book. I am always on the lookout for good book recommendations!
