About me
I was born in Michoacan, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States in the early 1980s. From the time I was 12, I and my 4 siblings were raised by a single parent, our mother. My family background is embodied in poverty, teen parents, trauma, and illiteracy. I was raised working and living in migrant camps and was the first in my family to obtain a higher education. While I had little to no personal supports, I had a strong resiliency, which contributed to my succes. This resiliency, coupled with the support and encouragement of select high school teachers, propelled me into higher education. I received my bachelor's and master's degrees from Portland State University, where I trained in psychology and counselor education. I have extensive experience working in the crisis field. I have a passion for helping individuals self-actualize to be the most effective in their lives. I also have a passion for and value health and lifelong learning. My pronouns are she/her/hers.
About my practice
My treatment approach is tailored to each individual’s concerns. I strongly believe that through exploration of self and mindfulness, all persons have the capacity to manage life’s challenges. I work with primary care patients focusing on brief interventions and eliciting behavior change for any condition that is affecting their health and well-being. I also enjoy the often fast-paced environment and the holistic, team-based approach of working in primary care.

How I thrive
As a youth, I developed a passion for health and fitness. I have enjoyed being a group fitness instructor for a variety of fitness classes. Attending to my physical and mental health and spending time with my family helps me thrive. I am the mother of a son and 2 daughters, and in early 2019 we welcomed a shitzu-bichon puppy. We live a busy and healthy lifestyle of sports, leisure activity, music, cooking, and travel.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other KFHP (Kaiser Foundation Health Plan) products and lines of business. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans’ contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of members’ KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

Referrals to affiliated community physicians/providers in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community physicians/providers are not part of the NWPMG (Northwest Permanente Medical Group). They are physicians/providers credentialed by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest and/or who have a contract with the NWPMG.
If your NWPMG physician decides that you require covered services not available internally from an NWPMG physician, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community physician/provider. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community physician/provider.
Referrals to affiliated community dentists in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community dentists are not part of PDA (Permanente Dental Associates). They are dentists credentialed by PDA for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest, and they have a contract with PDA.
If your PDA dentist decides that you require covered services not available internally from a PDA dentist, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community dentist. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community dentist.
