About me
Biography
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida to Cuban immigrant parents. As the first medical professional in my family, I attended the University of Miami for both my undergraduate and medical training. I chose to specialize in family medicine because it allows me to care for individuals of all ages and emphasizes community health.
Before joining Northwest Permanente, I served as a family physician with the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. My experiences in Afghanistan fostered an interest in establishing health systems and delivering effective care across different cultures and with limited resources. Having recently retired from the Air Force, I am eager to settle in Portland and contribute to the community through my work with Northwest Permanente.
About my practice
My role is to listen and understand so that I can empower patients with the advice and information they need to achieve their health goals. As a family physician, I care for people of all ages, from newborn to centenarians and especially enjoy when families are enrolled together with me, fostering lasting relationships. I have over 20 years of experience in diverse settings and practicing the full range of family medicine, including outpatient, hospital, and obstetrical care. I am passionate about understanding the cultural nuances to a patient’s health goals and communication. Discussing how lifestyle impacts and affects health is just as important as any prescription medications in achieving sustainable health outcomes. I have special interests in LGBTQIA+ care and provide gender affirming care. Additionally, I enjoy prenatal care, women’s health, and minor surgical/office procedures, as well as incorporating brief medical acupuncture interventions.

How I thrive
I love reading, learning and trying new things. I also enjoy cooking, snowboarding, oil painting and exploring outdoors. My husband, daughter, and I are Disney aficionados and are having a great time touring Portland. We love to check out new places and take cruises when we can. Supporting our daughter’s endeavors is my favorite pastime.

Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans’ contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of members’ KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

Referrals to affiliated community physicians/providers in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community physicians/providers are not part of the NWPMG (Northwest Permanente Medical Group). They are physicians/providers credentialed by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest and/or who have a contract with the NWPMG.
If your NWPMG physician decides that you require covered services not available internally from an NWPMG physician, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community physician/provider. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community physician/provider.
Referrals to affiliated community dentists in Oregon and Washington
Affiliated community dentists are not part of PDA (Permanente Dental Associates). They are dentists credentialed by PDA for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest, and they have a contract with PDA.
If your PDA dentist decides that you require covered services not available internally from a PDA dentist, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community dentist. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community dentist.
