About me

I was born and raised in Beaverton, Oregon and stayed in the Northwest to study microbiology at Oregon State University. Back then, I was particularly excited about the idea of helping the lives of others through science but realized this would not be from a lab bench during my time as a tuberculosis research assistant. It was my boss at the research lab who first suggested the idea of becoming an optometrist. This led me to shadow doctors within the field and I discovered a part of healthcare that helped achieve a dream of improving another person’s life with science, sometimes within a matter of minutes! The eyes provide a critical connection to our world and as an optometrist I fell in love with the concept of sharing details about how the eyes work in relationship to each person’s unique lifestyle. I then traveled down to Southern California for optometry school, but Oregon called me back to work on the beautiful Oregon coast in a group practice. I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to be closer to family, so I have come full circle to be back in the metro area with Kaiser Permanente.

About my practice

My philosophy is cultivating effective communication and developing goals together with patients and their families to fit their individual vision and eye health needs. I enjoy seeing patients of all ages and treating a wide range of conditions including dry eyes, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Breaking down an eye concept and providing my patients knowledge about how their eyes function is my everyday goal. I prefer a holistic approach to eye care as what impacts our general health can impact our eye health, so working in collaboration with a patient’s other providers is invaluable to optimal care. Kaiser Permanente offers a wide network of providers across all fields of healthcare that work closely together and allows me to put my patients’ needs first.

How I thrive

To me, thriving is finding ways to continue to explore my surroundings, learn something new every day, and be there for the ones I love. When I’m not at the clinic you can find me hiking throughout the greater northwest (Mount Rainier and the Columbia Gorge are some of my favorite areas)! Being outside in nature makes me feel grounded. If the weather prevents outdoor fun, I will be cozying up on my couch with a book along with a cup of tea, streaming a new series with my partner, calming down with Pilates, or baking up a treat to share with family and friends.

Referrals to affiliated community physicians/providers in Oregon and Washington

Affiliated community physicians/providers are not part of the NWPMG (Northwest Permanente Medical Group). They are physicians/providers credentialed by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest and/or who have a contract with the NWPMG.

If your NWPMG physician decides that you require covered services not available internally from an NWPMG physician, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community physician/provider. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community physician/provider.

Referrals to affiliated community dentists in Oregon and Washington

Affiliated community dentists are not part of PDA (Permanente Dental Associates). They are dentists credentialed by PDA for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Northwest, and they have a contract with PDA.

If your PDA dentist decides that you require covered services not available internally from a PDA dentist, he or she may refer you to an affiliated community dentist. You must have a written, authorized referral from Kaiser Permanente in order to receive a covered service from an affiliated community dentist.
