Originally from Southern California, I moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest in 1994. I came here to join Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) as an assistant professor in pediatric nephrology. My husband and I bought a home, I started a new job and we got married all in the same year - all wonderful changes, so the adjustment was not difficult. As we started a family, I transitioned to working in general pediatrics along with pediatric nephrology. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to begin working at Kaiser Permanente in 2003. I still miss the sunshine and the ocean but enjoy all the Northwest has to offer.
My pediatric nephrology clinic is housed at the East Interstate Medical Office in Northeast Portland. We have a tremendous team of nurses and medical assistants that strive to provide excellent coordination of care for the youth in my practice. I find that teamwork involving the entire family is vital to optimizing care and allows for integrating many aspects of a child/teen's life into a plan that works best for him/her. When my patients need in-hospital care, they stay at Doernbecher Children's Hospital, where I work in tandem with the excellent Kaiser Permanente pediatric hospitalist group.
When I am not at work I am very involved in my family's activities and academic pursuits. I also enjoy being outside, working in the garden, helping several philanthropies or walking and catching up with friends. Keeping active in many ways physically and mentally helps me to thrive and keep up with my 80+ year old mother!
