At Kaiser Permanente, I believe that we deliver the best maternity care in the nation. We deliver about 120,000 babies a year. We're good at this. This is what we do. We have you covered from the time leading up to pregnancy, throughout your entire pregnancy, your delivery and your postpartum. So your care team consists of a lot of people. First of all, your OB GYN physician, anesthesiologists, your pediatrician, certified nurse, midwife, lactation specialists, social workers, behavioral health therapists. You've got a whole team. Most of your visits will be in person, but we're also able to do some of them virtually. So for instance, if I have a patient with multiple medical issues who's pregnant, out in the kind of non Kaiser Permanente world, it probably would take a woman three, four, or five separate consultations visits with other doctors, and then sort of gathering all that information back for me to be able to take the best care of her. But at Kaiser Permanente, through our electronic medical record, I can just send a note to the specialist or text the specialist, and have an answer and come up with a coordinated care plan without the patient having to even have a separate visit.Any imaging, all of your lab work, additional counseling is all done within Kaiser Permanente. And being able to provide that high level of care in a way that is seamless and easy for patients and get their new family off to that great start, it's an honor. It's a privilege. It gives me a lot of fulfillment. It's why I do what I do.
