Volunteer opportunities at KP Hawaii

We are looking for responsible and dedicated volunteers with a passion for community service to join our health care teams.

Whether you want to give back to the community, need to complete service hours, or simply enjoy meeting new people and making new friends, our volunteer program offers many opportunities to fit your talents, skills, and interests.

Kaiser Permanente Medical Centers
Volunteer assignments are non-clinical and non-clerical, and may include:

  • Concierge services
  • Wayfinding
  • Wheelchair distribution
  • Healing Touch
  • Pet Therapy
  • Assisting in vaccination clinics and/or various departments
  • Peer Support
  • Crafting
  • Junior Mentorship Program for high school students
  • Rounding at bedside
  • Department Observation
  • NICU Cuddling

Volunteer opportunities are available at the following clinics:

  • Moanalua Medical Center (Hospital)
  • West Oahu Medical Center
  • Koolau Medical Center
  • Waipio Medical Center
  • Honolulu Medical Center
  • Mapunapuna Medical Center

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Meet the age requirements – 16 years and older.
  • Must volunteer for a minimum of 6 months (can be split into increments for college students, e.g., summer and winter break)
  • Junior Mentorship Program requires a minimum of 80 hours in a school year
  • Commit to 2 hours, once a week
  • Volunteers are considered active when volunteering at least 2 shifts per month.
  • Communicate effectively
  • Successful completion of a background investigation
  • Complete initial health screening
  • Meet the physical and behavioral requirements
  • Complete new volunteer orientation

Advisory committees

  • Volunteer opportunities are available for members interested in serving on our Patient and Family Centered Care Council
  • Volunteers provide feedback to Kaiser Permanente leaders on ways to improve the patient experience and patient care. Committees meet monthly and meeting times vary according to the group. All meetings are held either in person or online via Microsoft teams, whichever fits your preference.
