Kaiser Permanente has received a strike notice from the Alliance of Health Care Unions in Hawaii
Since May, we have been negotiating in good faith with the Alliance of Health Care Unions — UNITE HERE Local 5, HNHP (Hawaii Nurses and Health Care Professionals) home health/hospice, respiratory therapist, and laboratory professional units, and UNAC/UHCP (United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals) — on a new national agreement that supports our employees, maintains our status as a best place to work, and ensures affordable care for our members.
The unions that make up the Alliance in Hawaii have issued notices for a 5-day strike beginning October 14 at all our medical facilities. A strike notice doesn’t mean a strike will actually happen. We’ll continue bargaining in good faith with the Alliance, and will work to reach an agreement before a strike occurs.
If a strike does happen, our Moanalua Medical Center and some of our medical offices will stay open. We have robust plans in place to ensure continued care.
It’s possible we may need to reschedule some non-urgent appointments and elective surgeries.
If you have an appointment scheduled on a possible strike date, please don't cancel or reschedule. We’ll reach out to you if we have to reschedule your care.
Your care is our priority. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any potential inconvenience this may cause.
How to get prescriptions
During a strike, all of our pharmacies may need to close. Should this occur, rest assured you can fill new and urgent prescriptions at select affiliate pharmacies. Our mail order delivery service also will be available to open new nonurgent and refill prescriptions.
