A UNAC/UHCP labor strike is underway at Kaiser Permanente

The United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals (UNAC/UHCP) is conducting an open-ended strike involving 240 employees at our Hawaii facilities.

Our hospital and all our medical facilities remain open, and you can rely on us for the high-quality care you deserve. We’ve put strong plans in place to ensure your care continues without interruption.

Our emergency department, urgent care, and clinics remain open

  • Our Emergency Department at Moanalua Medical Center and Urgent Care at Honolulu Medical Office, West Oahu Medical Office at Kapolei, and Maui Lani Medical Office will remain open during the strike.
  • All our clinics will remain open during the strike.

Appointments during a strike

If you have an appointment scheduled during the strike, please don't cancel or reschedule. We’re contacting members in advance if their appointment or services need to be rescheduled.

How to get prescriptions

Some of our pharmacies are closed during the strike. Our open pharmacies may be experiencing long wait times. You can skip the wait and fill nonurgent prescriptions and refill prescriptions using our mail-order delivery. For urgent prescriptions, please visit any of the open Kaiser Permanente pharmacies listed below.

    Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon; closed Sunday
  • Koolau and Mapunapuna
    Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday

  • Kailua
    Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to noon, 1 to 5 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday

Hawaii Island

  • Hilo and Kona
    Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday

Maui

  • Maui Lani
    Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lahaina members — Call 808-643-7979, option 3 to transfer your prescription to an affiliate pharmacy. The prescription will be for a maximum of 30 days with no refills.

Mail-order pharmacy

We encourage you to choose mail order delivery on kp.org/pharmacy or the Kaiser Permanente app. Estimated delivery times based on recent mail trends are on kp.org. Typically, you should receive your medications in about 5 to 7 days. There's no cost for shipping.
