Where I practice
Hello! I'm glad to have this opportunity to share information about myself and how I practice pathology at Kaiser Permanente. The Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Medical Center has a wonderful group of caring and talented physicians, and I’m proud to be a part of this health care team.
I was raised in Southern California, attended public schools, and then stayed local for college, followed by medical school at UCLA School of Medicine. I’ve wanted to be a doctor since I was 5 years old, and I always thought I’d become a pediatrician or family physician. Taking care of people and making a difference in their lives is important to me. I discovered pathology in my second year of medical school and realized the impact I could have on patient care.
About my practice
Pathology may seem like an exact science, but it’s not! Many cases require additional tests, studies, and analysis. While crucial to member care, pathology is one discipline in medicine where direct contact with the member is limited. Each specimen becomes my patient, and every specimen has an anxious member awaiting results. We never lose sight of that in our department.
How I thrive
I try to keep balance in my life. Between my family (a husband, two sons, aging parents), two dogs (Golden Retrievers), full-time work, and a hectic daily life, this can be challenging. I exercise at least three times per week and try to eat sensibly. Gardening and listening to books on tape help me relax.
