Where I practice
Thank you for visiting my Web page. I’m happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. I’ve been with Kaiser Permanente in Orange County since 2000, and I feel very fortunate to work with such wonderful colleagues and members.
I’m originally from the Midwest, having grown up in Wisconsin and Minnesota. I moved to Tacoma, Washington, to attend college at Pacific Lutheran University. I then moved to Boston for medical school, and did my five years of surgical training in Denver. It was in Denver that I became intimately familiar with Kaiser Permanente, and I soon realized that it was the only place I wanted to work. I met my husband while living in Denver and he introduced me to Southern California, since he’s a native of the area. I was drawn to the beautiful weather, and we moved to Orange County in 2000.
About my practice
I’m part of a team of medical assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and fellow partner surgeons. We strive to give all members personalized, high-quality care. My goal as a surgeon is not only to perform surgery with excellent results, but also to determine when surgery is really needed. I also make sure the procedure is fully understood by the member, that nonsurgical options are discussed, and that all questions are answered to the member's satisfaction. My specialty involves surgery on organs in the abdomen or pelvis (excluding the kidneys, bladder, and gynecologic organs). I also treat members with hernias and breast problems, including breast cancer. I have a special interest in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery.
How I thrive
Keeping balance in my life is very important to me. I love my work, but my family life and personal health are also priorities. I spend most of my free time with my family and find time for regular physical activity as well. I enjoy traveling with my husband and three daughters. I especially enjoy traveling as a way of spending uninterrupted time together, as well as seeing new places, meeting new people, and visiting old friends and family. I enjoy all types of outdoor activities, including cycling, camping, hiking, and skiing.
