Where I practice
Hello, and welcome to my Web page! I welcome this chance to share aspects of my personal and professional background with you. My goal is to help provide a stronger foundation for a doctor-member relationship based on mutual respect and open communication.
I'm a California native whose initial exposure to medicine came during the year I spent in Argentina as a foreign exchange student. At that time, I was inspired to combine my love of science, language, and desire to help others, so I pursued a career as a doctor. I completed my undergraduate and medical education and my surgical residency training in Southern California. Over the years, I've taken profound satisfaction in caring for my surgical members and their families.
About my practice
The practice of surgery continues to fill my life with all the challenges, excitement, and rewards I could ever hope to experience. As a Kaiser Permanente physician, I have time to practice what I preach to members in terms of balancing work and play. My mission is to forge positive partnerships with members. Good medicine is based on a foundation of open communication, mutual respect, and current information. Successful health care is tailored to fit the unique needs of each member as opposed to fitting everyone into a one-size-fits-all treatment. As a doctor, I embrace the challenge of keeping up-to-date in the latest surgical and medical treatments. At the end of each day in the operating room or ICU, I feel privileged that my efforts may make a difference in the quality of life for a member and his or her family. Over the years, my family and I have also been patients. We've experienced the benefits of comprehensive and compassionate care from my fellow physicians. I'm fortunate to work in an environment that allows me to focus on developing a rapport with members, and finding joy in practicing the art of medicine and surgery.
How I thrive
I believe the key to living well is to make the most of every moment. I try to achieve a balance of mind, body, and spirit. I find satisfaction when I work hard doing something I love that makes a difference to my members. I also play hard with people I love the most—my family and friends. My profession certainly occupies a large portion of my life. One of my greatest joys is to work with a member as a partner with a common goal. I also find it thrilling to be able to snow ski, waterski, snowboard, wakeboard, and SCUBA dive with my adult sons. On the weekends, I can be found mountain or road biking, waterskiing, snow skiing, dirt biking, or cruising on my Harley.
