Where I practice
Hello, Welcome to my web page.
I have been Chief of the Department of General Surgery at Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center since 2002. In this role, I oversee a team of caregivers that includes 10 surgeons and a network of physician assistants, wound care specialists, nurses, and other related specialists. In 2014, I was appointed the Regional Chief of General Surgery for Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG), and in this role I coordinate and oversee the delivery of General Surgical care for more than 9 million Kaiser Permanente members in Southern California. In addition to my roles within SCPMG, I am a Clinical Instructor for the Harbor UCLA Department of Surgery and am a well-respected member of national surgical organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. In 2008, along with my colleague Dr. Diana Laplace and the East Valley Community Clinic, I began a locally and nationally recognized free Community Surgery Day. Since then, the initiative has provided important surgical care to hundreds of patients in need.
About my practice
My clinical practice at Kaiser Permanente’s Baldwin Park Medical Center includes the full range of General Surgical services, including oncologic, laparoscopic, and elective operations treating diseases of the breast, gastrointestinal tract, and skin/soft tissues.
How I thrive
I am an active member in my community. I serve as a Los Angeles City Commissioner, a member of the National Finance Team for the Democratic National Committee, and a Board Member for the Hammer Museum, and I am a founding member of Contemporary Friends, an art acquisition group for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
