It is my pleasure to introduce myself to you as one of the senior staff anesthesiologists at the Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center. I am proud of the accomplishments I have witnessed at Kaiser Permanente over the last 25 years and proud to be part of this organization.
My decision to become a doctor began to form in my early teens because of my keen interest in biological sciences and chemistry. Growing up in the Philippines in a community with constant exposure to the sick and needy gave me the desire to become a doctor and a goal of helping people.
I am a general anesthesiologist. My present scope of practice includes anesthesia for all surgical specialties, excluding neonatal, cardiac, brain, pain, and transplant surgeries. About 60 percent of my time is spent on personal delivery of anesthetic care, while the remainder is spent on supervising our certified registered nurse anesthetists.
I believe in keeping the mind, body, and spirit fit. I am an avid swimmer. I watch my diet and blood pressure. I try to avoid stressful situations, and I relax and take deep breaths whenever possible. I keep abreast of the most current advances in my specialty by reading journals both on paper and online and attending conferences. I like to end my day in meditation and prayer.
